Why is my breast-fed baby cluster feeding?

Cluster feeding is normal during growth spurts and in general during the newborn period (especially during the first 2 weeks while your baby is regaining their birth weight). Your baby was getting fed 24/7 through your placenta, and now they are learning they have to ask for food! Human breast milk is similar in content to that of “carrying” animals, who keep their babies with them 24/7- it is high in water content and lower in fat. Cluster feeding is also a great way for your baby to tell you: "You are my greatest comfort and make me feel calm!" It is normal (albeit tiring) for your baby to have this “constant feeding” desire at times.
